Gerber life insurance FAQ
Is Gerber Life Insurance for a child a good thing?
Feb 09, 2008 by ladyellei | Posted in Insurance
What is the point in buying a baby life insurance. Isn't it better to invest the money for the child and let them have access to it whenever you think the child is ready?
Just get a rider on YOUR policy. You only need enough for burial costs. If you look at the amount the policy would be worth at age 21 versus how much you've paid in.....you definitely wouldn't buy it. If you want to earn them some money, take $15 a month

yes, life insurance is always a bad idea for dependents. it's practically a scam. save the money, send the kid to school.

is the gerber life plan insurance a good one for my toddler?
Sep 20, 2011 by mau | Posted in Insurance
my daughter was born in the US and we are currently residing in another country.. i was thinking of investing in a life plan/insurance.. gerber offers a lump sum when the child reaches 18 and is still covered after that.. any suggestions??
If you want life insurance then just put her on as a rider on your plan. Children do die in untimely manners, unfortunately, and their funerals aren't free.
If you want her to get a lump sum when she turns 18 then stick money in a savings

This is my honest opinion on the matter...
Mind you, my opinion is based on our current economy and the fact that several major companies have become extinct in the past several years.
I'm wondering if the Gerber company

What exactly is Gerber Life Insurance?

I always see mail on my table with a baby on the envelope that says "Gerber".
My parents have been paying for it forever, since I was a baby. I would ask my parents, but they're not home.
Is that money for me in the future? If
Basically its a whole life policy where your premiums are paid for two things: The insurance and the cash value. While premiums may seem very low (about $216/year for $25,000 coverage), a 35 year old man that is healthy can purchase a 20 year term policy

"All towns and villages with a local police force are facing, or will face, the same problem. Police officers are entitled to full retirement after 20 years of service, which is not a local problem, but one for the state retirement system. The local problem is that many localities are providing benefits to their people after retirement, such as paid family health insurance for the life of the officer. That means that a town can be paying health insurance premiums for a person for up to 50 years in "retirement". With the ever escalating cost of health insurance and people living longer lives, these payments can be a real burden on taxpayers.
If you consider that the officers replacement is also getting health insurance benefits and can retire after 40 years, it is easy to see where it is possible to have 3 or 4 retirees from one officer position, all with taxpayer supported health benefits. Multiply these costs by the number of officers in the force, and you can see why governments everywhere are coming to the conclusion that what we have is not sustainable.
